Pirate Wire Services Launch Party
All the nitty gritty independent reporting that didn't go to the big guys
For five years I’ve been wandering around Latin America covering rebellions, immigration, crime, protests, human rights and the drug wars from Venezuela to Peru. During that time I’ve been fortunate enough to earn a living as freelance journalist working for publications such as VICE, USA Today, AJ English, the Daily Beast and lots more.
Part of the grind of being an Indy journalist in our global digital age is pitching stories: i.e— selling the ideas. And that’s great! But it also means a lot of really important stories don’t get produced because media companies aren’t interested in giving them space.
Pirate Wire Services is about changing that. From a week in Catatumbo, the lawless coca zone on the Colombian-Venezuelan frontier with people who live their lives on the front lines of the Drug Wars, to the untold story of the battle of Siloé, a working class neighborhood in Cali controlled by gangs that became the violent epicenter of national protests that shook Colombia to it’s very foundations, I’ve uncovered a plethora of human and dramatic tales that don’t fit inside the realm of legacy media.
So we’re bringing them here. Our plan is to produce original reported content in both text and podcast form straight from the frontlines of Latin America, and from the journalists who live in those areas.
Your support in getting this project started would mean the world. We have a lot o stories to tell and a world to change by doing so.
All we lack are friends to help us get the message out there. We will be producing free as well as paid content, Please consider subscribing today
